Ready to get back to MMD

Hey everyone,
I have posted anything in a lil while so here is a quick update on whats going on here in Iraq. Nothing much is going on here lol. Just the same ol same ol. I am currently at FOB Falcon in the hospital. I am ok, I had an abcess on my left tricep from a pimple. I had it lanced and drained at MMD but when i went back the next day to get it repacked, my arm was swollen ab to twice the size it was suppose to be. By the way i was really liking how big my arm was but i wish it was muscle instead of it being swollen. But anyways they made the decision to send me to falcon on the 19th. Once i got to falcon the relanced it and got most of the infection out. Then over the matter of the next 7 or 8 days my arm was repacked every 12 hours and was on a constant IV drip and antibodics. I am now off the IV and now on pill form antibiotics and ready to head back to MMD to back into the swing of things. I hope everyone has had a great week and hope the weekend is even better. I love you all and miss you all very much.

Getting ready to head back to Iraq

Hey everyone,
I havent posted anything in a while, but just a little update. I was able to get 15 days of leave and it started on the 18th of july and ends 03 Aug. I have had a blast on my leave. Thank you to all my friends (Cheek, Eddie P., Mary and JD, Greg) for a great time. I really enjoyed it. While I was home on leave I was able to spent alot of time with my son Chase and hanging out with friends and just relaxing. I got a new tattoo that is awesome. If anyone is looking to get some ink done and you are in the Southern Pines, NC area, I recommend going to Gas Chambers Inc and talk to steve. He did an outstanding job on mine. I only have a few days left of leave and then its back to iraq for me. I am looking forward to getting back and getting back in the swing of things over there. I hope everyone has had a great weekend and hope that you all are doing well. I love you all and miss you all very much.

Chillen in Iraq

Hey everyone, Its been a little while since i have posted on my blog. Well I am at FOB Falcon now and have been here since ab the 28th of May. My platoon got attached to Delta company 1/252 for ab 30 days. We are pretty much doing the same missions as before in MMD, just in a different sector. So far Falcon isnt too bad, our living arrangements are alot nicer up here. We live in barracks here and currently have my own room. Compared to living in a tent with 3 other E-6s at MMD. It is getting hotter here as we start to get into the summer months. The temp is spiking at over 130 degrees at the hottest part of the day and getting down to ab 90-100 at night. So not much cooler in the evenings. Since being here at Falcon and doing missions here I have gotten to experience a little bit of the culture here and actually meeting some of the local children aswell. They are just like kids in the states, they play and have fun, but are just less fortunate here. Some of them are soo poor that they dont even have shoes or sandels. Well I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend and hope yall have a good week. I miss yall very much and love yall bunches. GOD BLESS!!!

Update

As you all may now I am at Mahmidhiya (MMD) conducting combat operations and am loving life right now. I am safe and doing well. Although I am now currently at camp striker going through some classes that I need to get some vehicles that my unit needs for combat ops. I have no idea how long I will be up here but I already miss life on MMD already. I arrived here last night and will start classes tomorrow. It has been pretty busy here the past 2 weeks or so. Once again I am loving it here, this is truely what I enjoy doing. I truely believe that this is my calling from GOD for what he wants me to do and work for him while I am here. The only bad thing about being over here is that I have missed my sons birthday which was the 23rd. I was able to call him and talk to him briefly. While I was talking to him he asked me if I wanted to go to chuckie cheeses with him for his bday. That probably was the hardest thing I have had to deal with since Ive been over here. I hate I had to miss is his birthday. This is the 2nd one in a row so Im gonna have alot of catching up to do when Im home. lol I love you all and miss you all very much. Hope to see yall when I get back. Stay safe and GOD BLESS!!!

Update

Hey everyone,
I have some recent updates. I have left camp stryker and am now at my home for the next 9 months. I am finally at Mahmadyiah. The living conditions here are much better then when I was in Kuwait and at camp stryker. I now have a 8 x 8 cubical that I can call home. Im loving it here, we have everything we need, but unfortunately I havent gotten internet on my computer as there is noway to get cash here on the FOB (Forward Operating Base). So i have to wait until finance comes down so I can get cash. Thats the only thing that stinks. lol Chow is good and everything else is great. I just got back from my first mission and I really enjoyed it. I hope everyone is doing well. I love yall and miss yall bunches.

Yes Camp Liberty is ab 5 mins from where I stay in Camp Stryker, but I wasnt in the area at the time of shooting. I did hear the some gun shots around the time it happend but I hear them alot here. I also did see the emergency personnel responding as well. Please keep the families of the 5 victims in your prayers. I love you all and miss you all very much. GOD BLESS!!!

But at the same time Im ready to get to my base and get to work. Who knows when that will be. Also I have an update to my address. It turns out that our base does have a post office after all go figure. I hope everyone is doing well and I miss and love yall very much. GOD BLESS and enjoy this wonderful day. Sitting in Iraq

Hey everyone,
I have made into Iraq safetly and currently am at Camp Stryker jsut south of Baghdad. This camp is alot bigger than the camp I was at in Kuwait. The word is that we are going to be here for ab 10 days for training on the vehicles we are getting then moving down to our base further south. But just like everything else in the army, things are subject to change. Since we have gotten to camp stryker we havent done anything but catch up on sleep and watch movies. So there is a lot of down time. Depends on ho you look at it that could be good or bad. lol I will do another post when I arrive at my base camp. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting off to a great week. The weather here is very hot so we are trying to stay out of it as much as possible. lol I love you all and miss you all very much. GOD Bless!!!

update

Hey everyone,
I am still at Camp Buehring Kuwait, but we have started conducting some training. On the 24th-25th we conducted dismounted combat patrols out of a base camp near Camp Buehring for training. Little did I know that i was the man in charge for our platoon until I actually got to the base camp. So instead of me being in charge of 9 soldiers I was in charge of about 23 soldiers in conducting this mission. Long story short our platoon did the best out the 3 platoons and we were the only platoon that didnt have a Platoon Sergeant or Platoon Leader. (these are the guys that run the platoon) So i had to step up and take charge. The mission was successful and gave me confidence that I am ready for the next level in my military career. Then today we zeros our optics on our weapons and as always my shot groups were the size of a dime. (very superb shooting)lol That is all we have done since we got here and have more training coming up. We should be heading into iraq sometime in may. We have gotten some info on where we are going and preparing for the missions that we will be conducting there. I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and a even better week. Still no address as of yet, we will probably be getting that when we touch down on our base in Iraq. I love you all and miss you all bunches.

Update to where I am!!!

Hey everyone,
Just an update to where I am. I finally arrived to Camp Berhing, Kuwait and 7 this morning. I am 7 hours ahead of NC, 8 hours ahead of NE and 10 ahead of Idaho. It was a very long flight, I had alot of time to think about somethings and get my head screwed on straight for the months that will follow. I have no idea how long I will be here, but cant complain about what this place has to offer. They have Taco bell and some other eating establishment, a fully stocked PX, phone services, and internet services here. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and hopefully the week at work wont be too painful. lol I love you all and miss you all very much. GOD BLESS!!!

Hey everyone, I know I posted a blog earlier saying the next time i will write, I will be in Kuwait. Well my flight left Pope Army Airfield on Ft. Bragg and 6 this morning, We have landed in Sannon, Ireland to refuel. This place is beautiful, I had forgotten how pretty it was when I came through here in 99. Hasnt really changed much though. But we are on a 4 hour lay over and then hopefully our next stop will be Kuwait. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying a great sunday. I love you all and GOD BLESS!!!!

Its almost time to go

Hey all,
Just an update on what is going on. We are still at bragg waiting, but the time is soon approaching. Finally, we can get this thing started. We have released until 1530 (3:30 for you non military) then we should know a little more ab when our flight leaves. This week has been a very boring time and very long week, for the fact that we couldnt really go anywhere because the flights that were leaving earlier in the week usually didnt have enough people on them so they started filling them from within the battalion. I have spent more time in this hot tent then I really wanted to but at the same time I have caught up on so much sleep lol. But hopefully the next post I make we should be sitting in Kuwait. I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying the weekend. I love you all and GOD Bless!!!

Getting ready to head out soon

Hey all,
Well the time has come and my pass ends tomorrow. I have my deployment ceremony tomorrow starting around 1400 in Fayetteville at the Crown Coliseum. After the ceremony we are headed to Ft. Bragg to finish up packing and its time to play the hurry up and wait game. But once we get the call on when we are leaving will head down to green ramp to load the plane bound for Kuwait. We will be there for a little while before we make our journey into Iraq and get settled into our Area of Operation. Where I will be for the next 9 months or so. I am very thankful that my family could make it down to see me off, I just wished that my other family could have made it down so see me off as well. I have had good time while they were down. We did alot of driving picking everyone up from Raleigh which is about a 2 hour drive one way from the house. Yuck!!! But we have made it through. Once I get settled in I will get my address out to everyone. Please dont hesitate to write. Any mail is good mail. I hope everyone is doing well, god bless and I love yall.

Well as some of you may already know I have left California and have had a few days at the house. My leave hasnt really gone the way that I have planned but I am making the best of it. My parents and grandparents have finally arrived and we are spending some much needed time together. But unfortunately my pass will end and I will have to report back to Ft. Bragg to start getting ready fly into Kuwait sometime around mid to late april. Im hoping it will be sooner than later. I will be gone for around 9 months. I will post more when I finally get to Kuwait and post my address once I get into Iraq and get settled into my new home for the next 9 months. I love you all and god bless.

Having a Blast in NTC

As you know I am still in California and the National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, CA. There really isnt anything out here except the Mojave Dessert. So I have taken some pics of my time in the box (in the field) living at FOB Miami and running missions out of there to our town AL Sharq and living there for a few days. I come out of the box sometime on the 26th of this month and them prep to go back to Ft. Bragg for a little more training and some much needed time off with the family. I hope everyone is doing good, i love yall and god bless.

Getting use to Cali

Ok so i sent out an update yesterday on my status. I have yet another change to this. As we are getting settled in here, we are getting into the swing of things with vehicle draws and getting them prepped with equipment, and ready to go to our FOB (Forward Operating Base) out in the dustbowl in the desert, and getting our personal equipment prepped as well. I find myself getting more excited with everyday that passes, for the simple fact that I will be in the field soon doing my job and running my squad in conducting combat operations. And that we are only here for a little more than 3 months and that will complete my training in other states. We will then return back to Ft. Bragg and hopefully get some much needed time off to spend time with Chase, Tannah and family. Then its off to Iraq for a little while. This will be my 4th deployment in 10 years. Which really isnt too bad.

I also have an update to my address, the building # has changed and my unit has been added.

UPDATE

As you all may already know I have left Camp Shelby, MS and headed National Training Center (NTC) in Ft. Irwin, CA. I arrived early this morning and am getting use to my new home for the next month. I am very excited to be here as NTC is one of the best trainging sites that the military has to offer for modern urban dessert combat today. I am surrounded by mountains which makes me feel kinda like home. lol I will post some pics of camp shelby, MS hopefully soon, but wanted to get an update out to you all letting you know I have moved. My address here is

UPDATE!!

Hello Everyone.. Since it seems that I am the admin of Kyles blog and can really say one of his biggest fans I just thought that I would give you an update on what he is doing. Mom and Tannah can also give you more information. (add comments to this post so all can read). Kyle has been in "mobilization mode" for a couple of months now. He is doing great and seems to be having a good time. I love getting emails and text messages from him so that I can keep up with how he is doing. He has been in training to learn to drive the bradleys. He seems to be having fun with it. He goes to a ton of squad leader meetings and when we are talking at night seems to have to kick me off so he can go to those all the time. I am sure that he wouldn't mind if you email him and keep up with him. I hope that we can keep updating the blog so that he can read comments and keep all of us up to date. Here is a photo of Tannah and Kyle on their recent 36 hour leave. They seemed to have a good time!! Tannah can go into detail if she likes!
